For my book cover redesign project, I chose to focus on My Paris Dream by Kate Betts. As a journalism major and lover of travel, I admire Betts’ life story of traveling to Paris and working her way up in the magazine industry. In the redesign, I wanted to highlight Paris and use warmer colors. I explored options of imagery as well as various typography solutions for the book’s title, subtitle and author. The image is sourced from Unsplash. The project includes a book cover and spine.
Before reaching the final product, I experimented in multiple variations and drafts. Below are PDFs of my first 3 drafts. In the early stages, I experimented with scanning and photoshopping my own photo of an Eiffel tower statue. Eventually, I experimented with Unsplash images of Paris.
